What is Welk Resorts?
Welk Resorts was founded by legendary variety show host, Laurence Welk. Known for world-class live entertainment, diverse locations, and superior service, Welk Resorts stood as one of the most popular hospitality brands for 60 years. Recently, the brand implemented a points-based ownership model, adding flexibility to its long list of appeals.
In 2021, Marriott Vacations Worldwide acquired Welk Resorts, combining it with its Hyatt Residence Club portfolio and rebranding the combined 24 resorts as the Hyatt Vacation Club. Today, Welk owners enjoy more flexibility and benefits than ever, with two points-based vacation clubs to choose from, multiple expansion packages, and external exchange through Interval International.

From the snowy slopes of Breckenridge the sunny shores of Cabo and everything in between, there’s a Welk resort in the perfect location for you. Moreover, Welk Resorts owners can access the 16 Hyatt properties in the Hyatt Vacation Club network, with locations in Key West, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and beyond.
There are eight timeshare resorts in Welk’s original portfolio. Three resorts – Welk Resort Villas, Villas on the Green, and Mountain Villas – make up the brand’s flagship property, Welk Resorts San Diego (now Hyatt Vacation Club at the Welk), located in Escondido, California. Welk’s other two California resorts include Northstar Lodge (now One Village Place) in Truckee and (Hyatt Vacation Club at) Desert Oasis in Palm Springs. The Ranahan (rebranded as Hyatt Vacation Club at the Ranahan) is located in Breckenridge, Colorado. Rounding out the portfolio are The Lodges at Timber Ridge in Branson and Sirena Del Mar in Cabo San Lucas.
Welk Resorts is still one of the most beloved names in the timeshare industry. However, in 2021, Marriott Vacations Worldwide bought Welk Resorts and folded it into its Hyatt Vacation Club network, which also includes former Hyatt Residence Club properties. Following the acquisition, the eight original Welk Resorts properties were rebranded as Hyatt properties, and Welk Points were rebranded as Portfolio Points and Platinum Points, in line with Hyatt’s two-tiered points system.
The cost of a Welk Resorts timeshare depends on several factors. Fixed-week timeshares are priced according to the season, unit size, and popularity of the resort. If you’re buying points, the price depends on how many points you’re buying and which points club you want to join, with Platinum Points costing more than Portfolio Points.
